Posh January transfer window

Key Events

  • Departures and signings still expected in final days of window
  • RJJ and Hector already linked with a Championship move

One-time Posh target moves elsewhere

Birmingham are in ‘advanced’ talks with Sheffield United attacker Kurtis Havenhand, according to Football League World.

Posh sign a midfielder for the future

Posh have signed Joe Andrews from National League South side Chippenham Town for an undisclosed fee, with the 18-year-old penning a long-term contract.

Andrews will re-join Chippenham on-loan until the end of the season

Wycombe make a move

Title chasing Wycombe Wanderers have signed experienced free agent midfielder Adam Reach until the end of the season

Darragh on national media duty later

The Posh chairman is on Sky Sports between 7-9pm today and on TalkSPORT between 10pm and 1am later.

He insists his media appearances will have no impact after questions from fans.

MacAnthony said: “My movements on deadline day do not dictate how we do on the pitch. Get a grip with crap like that. Nobody works harder for this club than me. And we have made good signings this month and have a squad capable of winning games. Signing another 3, 4 or 10 new players is not viable. This isn't Championship Manager.”

More from Darragh MacAnthony

Posh chairman Darragh MacAnthony has been fielding questions from fans on social media.

He said: ‘We won a football game 5 days ago. Had a horror show yesterday and lost a game. We will recover. Cheque book won’t make a difference. Nor will the shite coming at me online. Winning games will make a difference. I choose to support my players and staff. Not run to the hills moaning/bitching/giving up on them all because of an awful 6 months.

“We get out of this mess by sticking together, not turning on each other, not blaming each other and by winning some bloody football games. Yep we were awful yesterday. The manager and staff will fix this horrendous away form.”

Orient are set to sign Randell Williams from Bolton

Wycombe are chasing Walsall midfielder Jamie Jellis.

Mansfield are now favourites to sign Blackpool striker Jordan Rhodes.

Bristol Rovers potentially dealt a big blow

Bristol Rovers are set to be forced to scramble into deadline day action.

Reports are that Ipswich have had a bid accepted for West Brom’s number one Alex Palmer.

In turn, this is set to see the Baggies recall Josh Griffiths from loan at Rovers.

He is the Rovers number one and played against Posh yesterday.

Posh signings 'unlikely'

Posh Owner Darragh MacAnthony has just been asked on X whether any incoming signings are likely and he has replied ‘unlikely’

Norwich sign a centre-back...

Just to further underline the Fernandez deal being off.

Norwich have completed the signing of 19-year-old centre-back Ruairi McConville from Brighton.

They signed Alex Gilbert from Middlesbrough not Alex Gilbey.

Fernandez transfer to Norwich is off!

Norwich City have ended their transfer interest in Peterborough United's Emmanuel Fernandez according to the ‘Pink Un.’

Posh boss Darren Ferguson had reported yesterday a ‘huge’ fee had been agreed with the Championship Canaries, but personal terms had yet to be agreed.

But the local Norfolk media say personal terms are not the reason for the change of heart. Norwich are set to sign a Brighton centre-back instead.

Transfer-listed Posh defender Romoney Crichlow has returned to Bradford City on a permanent deal.

The 25 year-old moved to Posh on a free transfer from Huddersfield Town last summer after spending a season on loan at Bradford.

Blackpool are also seeking a goalkeeper with former Wycombe man Max Stryjek. apparently a target. He’s been playing most recently in Polish football.

More from League One

Sunderland forward Caden Kelly is a transfer target of Stockport County.

Rotherham United are considering a late approach to sign Arsenal youngster Nathan Butler-Oyedeji.

Charlton Athletic, who are the next opponents for Posh, are eyeing a late loan swoop to sign Middlesbrough attacking midfielder Alex Gilbert, the South London Press understands.

Shrewsbury Town are set to capture Bradford City’s experienced striker Vadaine Oliver on loan, according to journalist Alan Nixon.

Race against clock for Fernandez deal to be done?

So, as the PT has reported, Posh have accepted what Darren Ferguson has described as a “huge bid” for a Championship team, which is almost certainly Norwich.

The Norwich ‘Pink Un’’, who first broke the Fernandez to Norwich story are now reporting that Fernandez is one of two centre-back targets for the Canaries.

The other being Brighton youngster Ruairi McConville.

The reporter behind the story, Connor Southwell, has tweeted “ There is a world where they sign both before tomorrow's deadline - but likely to be one.

The Pink Un has asked Norwich boss Johannes Hoff Thorup about links to Fernandez.

His response was: “Obviously, I know him. He's a great player, and I think he's a great centre back,

It comes down to squad planning and how everything will look

We need to spend time looking if there's any of our young guys where it is best for them to go out on a loan, and then probably that could create some space for us to bring in players. Whether it's a Fernandez, or it's someone else, potentially, there can be an open spot.”
