Brown’s arrival on loan from the John Smith’s Stadium last January co-incided with a spectacular run of Posh form.

Brown made 11 appearances and formed a superb central midfield partnership with another new recruit Jack Taylor as Posh surged up the League One table.

Brown said: “I enjoyed my time here last season and in my opinion, I felt we were going to get promoted, so I am back here to see if we can finish the job this time around. I want to play first team football and the club were keen to bring me back.”

Posh boss Darren Ferguson added: “When we knew there was a possibility of bringing Reece back, given what he did for us last season in terms of the way he played, it was a no brainer. He is a great lad who fitted in really well and suited the way that we played. He was a very impressive performer for us. He just gets on with his business.”

Posh tried to sign Brown from Forest Green before he moved to Huddersfield in 2019. He has made just one first-team appearance for the Terriers.

Brown is with the first-team squad at St George’s Park and is expected to play in tomorrow’s (August 18) friendly against Stoke City Under 23s (5pm kick-off).

Posh also take on Derby County at St George’s on Wednesday (August 19, 5pm).
