There will be no repeat of last season’s January recruitment drive for Posh this year.

Posh signed midfielders Jack Taylor and Reece Brown, plus forward Sammie Szmodics just over 12 months ago and they helped the club enjoy a terific run of results.

But Posh director of football Barry Fry believes there will be very little significant business done by the club ahead of Monday’s (February 1, 11pm) transfer deadline.

Posh remain confident of keeping star attacker Siriki Dembele until the end of the season despite Fulham head scout Brian Talbot watching the 24 year-old in last weekend’s win at Ipswich Town. That was the fifth time the Premier League side had scouted Dembele.

Young midfielder Kyle Barker was due at bottom National League side Barnet for talks over a loan move today (Thursday), while Serhat Tasdemir has recently spent three days on an unsuccessful trial at League Two promotion challengers Salford City.

Tasdemir, who has started just one league game in 20 months at Posh, was also reportedly of interest to League Two strugglers Stevenage.

It’s understood Posh will let out-of-favour midfielder Louis Reed leave if a suitable offer was received.

Reed is out of contract at the end of this season.

Fry said: “You never really know for sure, but I’m not expecting much to happen in or out. There just isn’t the money about at the moment.

“We have done plenty of business in January in the past and last year the signings worked out well, but the manager is happy with the squad we built in the summer.”

Posh legend George Boyd has been made available for transfer by Salford just three months after signing for them. Boyd was released by Posh earlier this season.
