“No-one knows where football will be in the next few months, but at least we have managed to give Joe the security of another year. We will review his contract again next season.”

Ward added: “I’m very happy to have signed a one-year contract extension.

“Hopefully we can quickly and safely recover from these really tough times and get going again whether it’s this season or next.

“I’ll be ready and raring to go.”
