Peterborough United manager thrilled with the performance, the result and his side’s League One record so far this season
Posh created enough gilt-edged chances to win the League One encounter far more convincingly, but it was still a decent comeback after two poor performances and defeats. The win consolidated Posh’s second place in the table.
Striker Jonson Clarke-Harris scored the only goal of the game just before the break, but limped out of the action 15 minutes from time with an ankle problem.

“It was a very impressive performance, apart from the finishing,” Ferguson said. “The tempo and intensity we played with, especially in the first-half, was outstanding.
“We’ve used this formation before and gone away from it during a game, but that was this best we had played it. The front three were a real handful and the link-up play between Jonson and Siriki Dembele was excellent. They got close together and they caused Plymouth no end of problems.
“We just needed to find that second goal to help us relax and we certainly created enough chances, but we also defended very well and restricted them to longshots really.

“It was a big win for us. We couldn’t get to three games without a win and there’s no doubt we deserved it.
“We’re now back on two points a game which is very good after 14 games. Winning nine of those games is also a very good return.
“We now have a great chance of reaching the third round of the FA Cup and I won’t be making as many changes for that game as I did for the first round match at Oxford.
