McCann-

Jonno is a credit to himself to getting into the shape he is now. We looked at him when he arrived and told him we thought he’ll never be able to play in our team.

He understands us now though and he’s been in all summer, dropped probably a stone.

It’s a but unfair to ask the question, we have Marriott and Jones, they’re different but we have different ways of playing, we always have a plan.

There will be less on transfer fees and more focus on academy, it has to be that way.

We want to aim to be 30% buying players, 70% producing them. We don’t want to spend millions, that’s easy with the current management, they’re great with young players.

Our academy is getting better all the time. We’re on year 2, wait until year 4 or 5.

We have to get it right to compete at Championship level in the future.

We need 10, 12, 14 Ronnie’s and Harrison’s, not one or two.

What have you learnt since being away?

McCann- I’ve learnt to be calmer, not take everything on my own shoulders, how to not take winning or losing how with me.

Results affected my life first time but now the most important thing is my family.

I’ve had ups and downs, I’ve hired a mentor to keep my emotions in control and hopefully I can pass it onto the players.

Learning how to deal with players, become a father figure to them has been important.

Goals for the season

McCann- We demand a lot everyday, we want them to be as professional as possible and the goal is to win the division.

We’ve got a really good group and it’s brilliant working with them, they work, they run, they fight.

They have a point to prove from last season.

Darragh- I want a title.

Darragh on Darren Ferguson

Maybe I didn’t give him the tools he needed and wasn’t being pushed to give him it.

Not everything can be but on one person, we were undercooked and have to take collective responsibility.

Darragh on new stadium

I’ve got so much on my plate, I have to defer that to Randy. My only priority is the football and behind the scenes

Grant has learnt alot since he left. He’s got some great experience and he’s learnt the importance of the Monday to Friday. He demands alot from me and the club and I will do my best to give him what I can, that’s more important to him than buying players.

McCann on avoiding winter dip in form

It’s hard to be consistent all season but we will be consistent on the training ground all season and that will show in the results.

We will not be left short. We will be competitive and calls have been made and things are in hand if anyone leaves.
