Peterborough United intend to attack ‘The Tigers’

Posh travel to the KCOM Stadium on the back of four straight wins to move up to fourth place ahead of a meeting with former manager Grant McCann’s table toppers.

“We will go on the offensive,” Ferguson stated. “I believe that’s the best way to approach this fixture. We certainly couldn’t be going up there in much better form or in much better spirits.

“That’s not to say I want us to be too open because we are playing a very good team with very good players, but it’s another game we will look to win.

“It’s a game we are all looking forward to and it’s one we badly want to win.

“We’ve played well against a few good sides already and now we face another one.

“It will be a good footballing match. Myself and Grant like our teams to pass the ball.

“They tend to play a 4-3-3 formation which I don’t expect to change on Saturday and they have threats all over the pitch.

“They have also been hard to break down. They’ve only conceded four goals in League One this season and they all came in the same match!

“We have the players to cause them problems though. We just need to improve our decision-making in the final third.”

Posh will be expected to name the same starting line-up for the third match in a row, although Niall Mason’s display after replacing left-back Dan Butler in the first-half of Tuesday’s win at Wigan Athletic gives him a chance of playing.

It’s more likely Ferguson will choose to rest a couple of players when bottom club Burton Albion visit the Weston Homes Stadium next Tuesday (October 27, 7pm kick-off).

“It’s such a busy period I expect to see teams leaving players out just to give them a rest,” Ferguson added.

“Hull left out Mallik Wilks on Tuesday and he’s probably their best attacking players.

“I will give the players an easy day today (Thursday) and then see how everyone is.”

Teenage striker Ricky-Jade Jones is the only confirmed Posh absentee.

The 17 year-old could miss the rest of the year because of a leg injury.
