The tie against the team who came from 2-0 down to win 3-2 at League One side Wigan Athletic in the first round on Saturday will be played between November 27-30.

It’s a dream draw for Posh who won 2-1 at Oxford United in the first round on Saturday. Chorley, despite their weekend heroics, are bottom of their division with just one point from five matches so far so Posh will be confident of making the third round for the sixth season in a row.

Posh boss Darren Ferguson said: “First and foremost, we are pleased that we have a home tie because we have had, and will have, a lot of travelling to do and with the lockdown, the last thing you want is an away tie miles from home with a lack of hotels available.

“We certainly won’t be underestimating the opposition as they caused one of the shocks of round one by going to Wigan, a side in our league, and coming back from 2-0 down to win the game 3-2.”

Posh have lost six times in the FA Cup to non-league opposition in 60 years as a Football League club. They were Wigan (1970), Northwich Victoria (1976), Dagenham (1984), Sutton (1987), Burton (2005) and Kidderminster (2014). Ferguson was manager for the Kidderminster game.
