Peterborough United goalkeeper on talking rubbish, keeping clean sheets and the magic of the FA Cup
Pym’s chatty style of play has become very noticable in an empty stadium. The 25 year-old doesn’t stop cajoing, encouraging or moaning for 90 minutes.
It appears to work though. Last season’s League One Golden Glove winner kept his fourth clean sheet of the season in the 2-0 win at Bristol Rovers on Tuesday.

Hide AdPym is expected to start tomorrow’s (November 7) FA Cup tie at Oxford United before making way for back-up Dan Gyollai in Tuesday’s largely meaningless EFL Trophy tie at Cambridge United (November 10).
“I’ve always talked a lot,” Pym admitted. “It’s a way for me to keep focused as well the players in front of me. If I’m talking and organising it helps me feel like I’m ‘on it.’ It helps me concentrate and keeps me on my toes so it doesn’t matter if the players in front me think I’m talking rubbish!
“Clean sheets are always vital. We’re not going to score five goals in every game so we need to be able to win if we only score once. We scored two worldies at Bristol the other night and without them the game finishes 0-0.
“We’ve been good defensively though. There has been the odd goal we’ve not been happy to concede, but we’ve generally been solid and streetwise with defenders getting some good blocks in.

“The atmosphere at games is obvously a lot different these days and that will really be the case tomorrow. I love the FA Cup. I’ve been involved in some great games, but the atmosphere has usually been a big part of that.
“Not tomorrow though which is a shame, but it’s still a game we want to win.
“Some players might get a break. It’s important to have a breather, but sometimes breaks come at the wrong time. We’re on a great run, but we’ve played so many games in such a short period of time it’s probably good to have a break now.”
