Peterborough United fans let fly after the worst FA Cup defeat in the club’s history: ‘A laughing stock, 3/10 too high for many players, garbage, gutless, clueless, impotent, embarrassing, concentrate on the league’

Peterborough United fans were fuming after their side lost 2-1 at home to non-league Chorley in a second round FA Cup tie at the Weston Homes Stadium yesterday (November 28).

Chorley were 12/1 underdogs at the start of the game and yet outplayed Posh for pretty much the entire 90 minutes.

We are the laughing stock of the weekend - most of the Posh players involved should be ashamed of that performance!

Can’t argue with many of the ratings. Szmodics was a 3/10 for me, he isn’t anywhere near the player he was last season and Eisa I would struggle to give him a 2, Worse forward than Tyrone Barnett so time to get rid and cut the losses on him.

@Tommochats

There would be several players deserving of a 2/10 rating. But these players will all play next game as they have no fear of losing their place.

@g_skltn

Nobody deserves more than a 2/10. And even then only Christy Pym deserves any kind of credit for a decent penalty save.

@nickjacksradio

We always find it nigh on impossible to break a team down when they sit back. We just keep the ball and just pass it around. Doesn’t matter what level of team we play against.

@matthewferro85

Terrible? We were nowhere near that good!

Total garbage and we still have the Christmas dip in performance to come.

@ahihibbert

I would question the lads’ attitude more than their ability. We know they’re good enough. We’re second in L1. The talent is there, but certain players didn’t look bothered or up for the fight today.

@poshforever2

The squad isn’t as strong or as deep as some believe/try and tell us it is.

It’s football, it happens, may be the jolt needed for Fergie to crack the whip & ensure the Christmas & New Year games achieve a decent outcome. At least it saves wondering how to split season ticket holders for Man City at home in the third round.

Deserved everything we got. Chorley wanted it, we didn’t, simple.

@Alexnelson2004

So after the third gutless, clueless performance in four games, at any other club in any other circumstances the manager would be clearing his desk. Might save our seasonal hopes, Would imagine those who gained the most were the unused subs. Reed and Hamilton must play at Wimbledon.

@Rutlandspinner

This was Mark Beavers worst game for Posh, and without Joe Ward we carried no threat in wide areas. I thought Fergie was too quick to take Sammy Smzodics off at as we were winning 1-0 and still in control just.! The substitutes made no impact.

@eddiedixon461

One of those old fashioned cup ties where Chorley players seemed to rise to, and above, our level. Can’t feel anything, but respect to the opposition and some disappointment at a few of our players. Focus on league and promotion still very much possible.

That was truly awful. With a 90-place gap between the teams, statistically, the worst defeat in the club’s league history.

@capper_mike

Pathetic performance after a bright start. Reece Brown offers nothing in midfield. Impotent up front and too naive at the back.

@daryl_aka_pilko

Totally embarrassing performance from Posh. Chorley deserved it, they beat us to everything, hope they get a good a good draw in the next round.

@AdyBarnett

No drive, no passion, very poor embarrassing performance.
