And so far, in just over a week, over 800 fans have chosen to back the club’s future stars. That’s almost 25% of the 3,567 Posh season ticket holders and close to 30% of all the 2,800 eligible for the refund.

“Over 10% of season ticket holders donated to the Academy in the first 12 hours,” MacAnthony said.

“That is quite magnificent from Posh fans and very much appreciated in these difficult times.

“The Academy is a huge part of our immediate future.”

Fans wishing to waive their refund and donate to the Academy can do so by logging into their online account at www.theposhtickets.com and clicking on ‘manage my tickets’ or by emailing [email protected] with their Fan ID.

Fans who bought single match tickets for any of the remaining five home games, or for the away match at Bolton Wanderers, will be refunded.

Supporters who had bought a 10-game season ticket will have any remaining matches carried over to next campaign, while Platinum season ticket holders will be contacted individually.

Posh have sold over 2,500 season tickets for the 2020-21 season and the club have stressed they will have priority entry to the Weston Homes Stadium in the event of a restricted capacity.
