Peterborough United fans deliver some brutal player marks and comments after a first defeat in nine League One matches

Peterborough United fans didn’t hold back when asked to deliver an on-the-whistle assessment of their side’s 2-0 defeat at Crewe Alexandra today (November 14)

The fact it was a first League One defeat in nine matches didn’t seem to matter.

Ward was our best player. Covered for Mason defensively, put a couple of good crosses in going forward and worked hard. Unfortunately nobody else seemed to want to play.

4/10? What do they get 3 for, putting their kit on?

When times get tough you need your leader. Beevers failed in that department today. So I wouldn’t mark anyone above 5, and majority with a 4.

@poshpanther

Beevers is a 6. JCH and Mason a generous 2.

@craigbucks

A worry that all 10 outfield players can play poorly. Not enough drive and pressing from the midfield and front players. We are, yet again, not playing on the front foot.

@davidrbull2010

Plenty out there worth 6 if not more, sadly none of them were playing for Posh. You can start at 1 for Mason and Dembele then go up to 6 for Pym, maybe Beevers and Kent. That’s it.

@ad1_mowles

Thought Eisa played well. It was a great opportunity for JCH he created, and looked the most like scoring. Disappointing as we never looked in any sort of control, passing looks so laboured, and final thirdrd play was so poor. Kent still looks solid though.

Again it worries me that we’ve lost 3 in 12 and that loss rate turns into double figures at the end of the seasonn. Too many for promotion. We need to manage games better. If it’s not your day just battle it out for a point, don’t just give up and lose to nil. Poor.

@steverodz

Another week, and no mention of how poor Szmodics has been. Can only blow smoke up backsides for so long. No idea how Eisa has pulled a shirt on again. I would have played Clarke, the boy has great energy. Crewe played very well.

@BULLY1934

Write today off. Regroup in the next couple of days. Go again Saturday. Two home games in next 10 days, so opportunity to bounce back. Think today clearly showed we miss Jack Taylor in midfield.

@alyn_line

Give Pym the 6. No-one else deserved more then a 3 or 4.

@X_Jaydeeeeee_X

Our level of performance today would not beaten any team in this league. Fair play to Crewe as they moved the ball well, but didn’t we make it easy by giving it to them all the time.

I wouldn’t rate any of our players above a 3 today. Gave the ball away too easily and played with zero tempo. Couldn’t handle Crewe pressing. Weak free kick to concede from. The second was even worse. Performance not worthy of the shirt. Disgrace. Well played Crewe.

@w4wilcox

Credit to Crewe - they were excellent. But the day was summed up by the 2nd goal - terrible pass and subsequent defending. I can’t think of anyone who was better than bang average.

@romysdad

Finally a positive from Covid, didn’t have to travel to watch that! Crewe on it from first whistle, wanted it more. No player above a 5.

@Fig428

Nul point for everyone. Didn’t turn up. Need a viable plan if JCH not up to it.

By all accounts Crewe were due a win, and all unbeaten runs come to an end at some point. Need to bounce back next Saturday with a win and this match will soon be forgotten.

@PoshboyAlan

Too early to panic, but from day one I’ve had strength in depth concerns.

@nonecksomesense

Dreadful passing. Dembele’s tricks and flicks just didn’t work. Sammie was a spectator. Eisa missed a very good chance that could have turned the final 20 mins. Crewe to be fair dominated.

@Gregsta73

Very poor. Poor passing, poor control. Mason out of position too often before the switch. I think we’re going to really miss Thompson, and it shows how important Taylor is. No-ne worth a 6, but I’d say at least Butler kept pushing forward so 5.5 for him.

Let’s be honest we have been poor at times in most of the games this season generally only for a half, but this time it was the whole game.

@ianstimson1

Missed Taylor & Thompson big time. No urgency 2nd half apart from Pym! 2nd best from minute 1 to 90. Easiest 3 points Crewe will get this season.

@Kyle_Irving1

We looked frightened to go forward, no killer pass at all, disappointing game to watch. I don’t think Crewe were great either.

@Dazzzzzzzler

No urgency, no intensity, maybe even completely wrong tactically. Crewe were excellent.

Everyone has off games and as has been proven all over the country again today, anyone can beat anyone. On to the next game!

@Proud2Bposh

The most positive thing from a Posh point of view was there were reportedly a lot of scouts there today. Don’t think they will be advising their respective clubs to put any bids in based on that performance!

@MPoshboyAlan

Not surprised. Been coming for weeks. Teams know to press us high up the pitch and we pass back, and back, and back, lump the ball forward where invariably we lose it. Fine when the defence stays strong but they can’t hold out forever. Sadly JCH is no replacement for big Ivan.

@Mark_Nick_UK

Crewe put a shift in, we jogged around a bit.
