Peterborough Town’s Josh destroys Desborough again, tie for Oundle, Bourne going well, huge score for Market Deeping

Peterborough Town’s Josh Smith continued his love affair with the Desborough bowling attack at Bretton Gate on Saturday (August 1).

Smith smacked 180 against the same opponents at the same venue last season and looked set for a repeat when reaching his ton with 10 overs of the Town innings still to go before he was dismissed for 106.

Smith added 137 for the second wicket with skipper David Clarke (68) as Town piled up an imposing 290-7 in their 40 overs. Desborough replied with 193-8.

Unbeaten Oundle tied at Old Northamptonians after the home side’s last pair had put on 39. Pete Foster had struck 80 of Oundle’s 196-7.

In the Lincs Premier Division Jordan Temple (82) and Pete Morgan (57) enabled Bourne to reach their victory target of 224 at Bracebridge Heath with five wickets and four balls to spare. It’s two wins out of two for Bourne.

Deeping have lost both of their Premier Division games so far. Captain James Hook (59) and Joe Malton (52) both scored well at Boston, but the hosts emerged winners by 24 runs.

The following day Deeping smashed 337-6 in 40 overs to set up a huge 247-run win in Rutland Division One over March Town at Outgang Road. Kieran Judd led the way with 78.

Teenage leg-spinner Karanpal Singh bagged 5-30 as Peterborough Town beat King’s Keys, while Barnack and Burghley Park were also successful against Oundle and Uffington respectively.

March and Wisbech were both heavily beaten in Cambs Division One.
