Chris Conn-Clarke was taken to hospital after injuring his collarbone in Peterborough United’s 3-2 victory over Bristol Rovers at the Weston Homes Stadium on Saturday.

Conn-Clarke was forced off after just 20 minutes of his first League One start since the opening day following a collision with visiting goalkeeper Josh Griffiths.

He tried to play on, but was replaced by Malik Mothersille soon afterwards. He then went straight to hospital and it set to require an operation on his collarbone.

The 22-year-old started alongside Ricky-Jade Jones in the Posh forward line. Jones scored Posh’s second goal after 33 minutes, but was then also forced off with injury in the second half. The severity of that injury is yet to be determined, but it’s possible ligament damage and he’s already a huge doubt for Tuesday’s League One game at Leyton Orient.

Posh boss Darren Ferguson said: “The only disappointment of the first half was Conn-Clarke getting injured. He and Ricky started really well. I’m looking at partnerships and I do like those two together. It is a bad injury he’s picked up. He’s in hospital now as his collarbone has come out and he will need an operation.

“Chris is a good player, I love the way he plays. He’s had to wait for his chance and it’s a real blow for him so I feel for him. The sort of injury it is, it will need to be operated on and he will be out for a while.

“Ricky has a problem with his ankle ligament. We don’t know how bad he is. He’s not it too much pain and he’ll be assessed on Sunday, but he is a doubt for Tuesday, which is a real blow.”
