Flynn Clarke, the 17 year-old grandson of former Posh and Northern Ireland striker Colin Clarke, has a big fan in first-team manager Darren Ferguson.

Attacking player Clarke signed a two-and-a-half year pro deal at the Weston Homes Stadium on his 17th birthday last December.

“He has a right chance of making it if he continues to progress.

“I can see him featuring in first-team games next season.

“In fact he would have made his first-team debut already, but for picking up a serious injury last season.

“I’ve liked Flynn from the moment I walked through the door.

“He can play as a number 10 as he has the vision as well as the technical skills.”

Ferguson is certainly not averse to throwing young players into the heat of battle.

He gave first-team debuts to teenagers Ricky-Jade Jones, Archie Jones, Kyle Barker, Sam Cartwright, Harrison Burrows, Benjamin Mensah and Bobby Copping last season.
