The 17 year-old won a fans’ vote to find the best player in the group stages of this season’s Papa John’s Trophy after scoring in all three games, against Burton, Fulham Under 21s and Cambridge United.

Clarks said: “I’m over the moon, especially at 17 years old. It’s my first trophy in professional football, so it’s a memory that will stay with me and my family for the rest of my life.

“Thanks to everyone who voted for me.”

Clarke made his Posh first-team debut in the first competitive game of the season against Cheltenham in the Carabao Cup and also made his Football League debut on the opening day of the League One season at Accrington Stanley.

He is expected to be back in the first-team squad for tomorrow’s (November 28) FA Cup second round tie against Chorley at the Weston Homes Stadium after recovering from injury.
