Enobakhare is looking for a club after leaving Greek side AEK Athens after one appearance this season. There is confusion currently as to whether or not he is free to sign for another club.

The Nigerian forward was a highly-rated youngster at Wolves for whom he made 49 first-team appearances, 28 as a substitute, scoring three goals.

He shone on loan at Coventry when one of his six goals arrived in a 2-1 League One win at Posh in March, 2019.

Wolves handed the player a free transfer in the summer and he moved to Greece. He scored on his only appearance as a substitute for AEK, but there was a quick parting of the ways.

Enobakhare played in a Posh under 23 match last week, but wasn’t involved in a similar game today when Harrison Burrows scored in a 1-1 draw with Barnsley.

Posh are keen to beef up their striking options after struggling badly without top scorer Jonson Clarke-Harris in Saturday’s FA Cup defeat to Chorley.

Posh co-owner Darragh MacAnthony is due in the UK next week to oversee the club’s transfer plans for January.

Posh director of football Barry Fry confirmed Enobakhare’s presence at the club on his return to work today (November 30) following a positive test for the coronavirus.

“I’m feeling much better,” Fry, who is 75, said. “The virus knocked me for six. It was so bad I missed five Posh matches which is more than I missed in the previous 25 years!”
