Officials at the Department of Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) are understood to have submitted proposals to the Cabinet Office which allows fans into Premier League and EFL matches where the Covid infection rates are low, once the second lockdown ends on December 2.

Peterborough was rated a tier one area - the lowest rating - at the time of lockdown on November 5, although it’s understood the Covid infection rate in the city has increased since then.

The DCMS proposal, which has yet to be accepted by the Government, would allow tier one and tier two areas to have fans in a football stadium. There is a new four tier system planned for the end of lockdown.

Posh fans have attended the Weston Homes Stadium on matchdays recently, but only to watch the action, taking place live 50 yards from their seats, on a big screen!

Posh are due to play League One home matches against Rochdale, Ipswich and Charlton in December.
