Peterborough United’s next scheduled League One game at home against Doncaster Rovers on Saturday, January 2 is now in doubt.

Rovers postponed their fixture with Accrington Stanley today (December 26) after two positive Covid tests within their first team squad.

The normal isolation period after positive tests is 10 days which means Rovers trip to Posh next Saturday must be in danger of postponement.

Posh will not play their scheduled fixture against promotion rivals Charlton at the Weston Homes Stadium on Tuesday after a positive Covid test in their camp. The Posh League One matches at home to Ipswich on December 19 and at Gillingham today were also postponed.

Posh could now have to wait for the televised trip to Lincoln on Saturday, January 9 for their next action. Lincoln went three points clear at the top of the table today after thumping bottom club Burton Albion 5-1 at Sincil Bank.

Posh remain fifth, six points off the top with a game in hand. Charlton missed a chance to move above Posh by drawing 2-2 at home to Plymouth although former Posh man Marcus Maddison did score his first goal for the Londoners with a thumping drive just moments after coming on as a second-half substitute.

Promotion chasing sides Portsmouth, Hull, Ipswich and Sunderland all suffered Covid-related postponements today.
