Peterborough United chairman tips Sunderland to win League One

Although his team currently sit at the top of the table after making a perfect start to the League One season, Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony is tipping Sunderland to win the title.

Sunderland are second in the League One table at the moment with 13 points from five matches, just two points behind leaders Peterborough and level on points with Portsmouth and Walsall, who are third and fourth respectively in the standings.

MacAnthony has said on Twitter that he expects the Black Cats to wrap up the league title by the start of April.

He said: “I expect them to walk this league. I said it in the summer and nothing has changed.

“A club the size of Sunderland with millions in parachute payments and players who have played loads of prem games, plus that support at home, should have the league wrapped up by the start of April. Simple facts. That’s just how football works especially at this level.”
