Peterborough Sports are up and running, historic win for Whittlesey Athletic, Stamford’s scintillating form continues, FA Vase progress for Deeping Rangers, late fightback from Yaxley FC
Sports sped into a second minute lead when Maniche Sani followed up to convert after the visiting goalkeeper had spilled Josh Moreman’s shot and the city side’s task became even easier soon afterwards when Barwell were reduced to 10 men by a straight red card.
Further first-half goals from Paul Malone and Dan Lawlor (penalty) and a second-half penalty save from Lewis Elsom secured a first win of the league season for Sports who next take on fellow Premier Division side Banbury United in the third qualifying round of the FA Cup at the Bee Arena on Tuesday (October 13). Sports will hope to exceed today’s decent crowd of 247 in Tuesday’s match.

Stamford AFC’s scintillating and free-scoring form continued with a 5-0 romp at home to Stocksbridge Park Steels in front of a crowd of 311.
