Orange squashed as Hammond hammers hat-trick for Sports
It was a good weekend in the Peterborough Youth League for city clubs Peterborough Sports, Northern Star and Gunthorpe Harriers.
Sports Under 18s returned to the Division Two summit - two points clear of Whittlesey Black with a game in hand - after thumping Spalding United Orange 9-0.
Jordan Hammond led the rout with a hat-trick and there were doubles for Calum Cooke and Liam O’Connor.
Northern Star Under 18s were also on cloud nine.
They were 9-1 winners at Ketton and have now joined Deeping Blue at the top of Division One.
Harry Catanach topped their scoresheet with a hat-trick to make it 16 goals from nine starts.
Gunthorpe Harriers were celebrating on two fronts on Sunday.
At the head of Under 15 Division Three, Gunthorpe Harriers Sky maintained their five-point lead over Thurlby Tigers with a 3-0 victory at Bourne Town Red while Gunthorpe Under 16s went joint top of Division Two after blasting their Bourne opponents 7-0.
Callum Applegate, Kyle Clarke and Jemall Curtis-South scored for the Under 15s while Tyler Munns (3), Brooklyn Gray, Alesio Hoxha, Tyrese Brown and James Ware were the Under 16 players to find the back of the net.
In the Under 15 PFA Cup, Leverington Sports booked their place in the final by beating Glinton & Northborough Amber 3-1 with goals by Dylan Pevreall (2) and Billy Barnes.
They will meet the winners of this Sunday’s semi-final between Peterborough Northern Star and Peterborough Sports.
