Peterborough Northern Star booked a place in the Northants Senior Cup Final with an excellent win over higher level Corby last night (March 3).

The city side won the semi-final clash at Chestnut Avenue 2-0 thanks to an early goal from Jordan Macleod and a second-half strike from Jason Kilbride. Goalkeeper Dan George saved a Corby penalty with the score at 1-0.

Star will start as underdogs in the April 21 final against Brackley Town, but Corby play their footbll two divisions higher than the city side.

Deeping Rangers also reached a cup final last night, but they had to work hard to see off lower level Potton in their Hinchingbrooke Cup semi-final at Outgang Road.

The United Counties Premier Division side won 4-3 against Division One opponents despite falling behind early on. It was 2-2 with 15 minutes to go, but two goals from Spencer Tinker, one from the penalty spot, and further goals for Adam Scotcher and Liam Tunstall ultimately proved decisive.

Deeping will play either Peterborough Northern Star, Yaxley or Bourne in the final. Yaxaley and Bourne have yet to play their quarter-final tie.
