Peteborough Northern Star are in excellent form heading into their big game with Holbeach this weekend.

Star made it five United Counties Premier Division wins in a row with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Huntingdon last weekend. Jacob Joyce and Craig Smith scored the Star goals.

And they also enjoyed a stylish start to their defence of the Hinchingbrooke Cup with a 3-0 win over Stewart & Lloyds. Smith, Jake Jefferson and Declan Rogers scored the goals in that game.

Yaxley also made progress in the Cup with a 4-0 win at Thrapston.

Peterborough Sports’ first 10 United Counties League Division One matches have yielded 10 wins, 57 goals and just four goals conceded.

Their latest victims were Lutterworth who were despatched 5-1 at PSL last weekend with Karl Gibbs and David Cobb each scoring twice.

Sports take a break from league action this Saturday as they instead visit Syresham in a Northants Junior Cup match. Syresham are next-to-bottom in the North Bucks & District Premier Division without a win to their name.

In the Evo Stik Northern Premier Division, the home misery continues for Stamford AFC. They are without a win in any of their eight league games at the Zeeco Stadium after losing 2-1 to Halesowen Town on Tuesday.

That result took the gloss off a 1-0 win at Matlock last weekend, a first success for recently-appointed manager Andrew Wilson.

The Daniels will presumably be pleased to be on the road to mid-table Ashton United this Saturday.
