Sports are at National North League side Boston United for a second qualifying round FA Cup tie.

“It’s the biggest game in the club’s history,” Dean stated. “It’s the furthest we’ve ever gone in the FA Cup and we are playing against the biggest club we’ve ever faced and in front of the biggest crowd we’ve ever experienced.

“Whether or not it becomes the best day in the club’s history will depend on the result. We shouldn’t have much of a chance against a team two divisions higher than us, but I really fancy we can pull off an upset.

“We are a different animal this season. I see it in training and I see it in matches. The atmosphere around our place is fantastic and we can’t wait to get stuck into Saturday. We have former Boston players in Mark Jones, Mitch Griffiths, Dan Lawlor and Lewis Hilliard who all have points to prove.

“Of course we will be up against it, but if we play at 100% and don’t make any mistakes, and they are off it a bit, we can definitely get a win.

“Boston haven’t been going great at home so we will aim to get in front and hope that the experienced players we have in our team can see us home.”

Sports are unbeaten in all competitions this season, but lost top spot in Division One Central of the Evo Stik Southern League after a goalless home draw with Didcot Town last weekend.

“We actually played really, really well,” Dean added. “They came to play at the start, but we ripped them apart without finding a goal.

“For the final hour they camped out on the edge of their own area which made it hard for us, but if we’d scored in that early spell we might have gone on to get five or six.

“They had one shot on goal all afternoon from a free kick so I have to be happy with the way we played against a decent side. It kept the run going and I wanted to go to Boston as an unbeaten team.”

Boston signed former Peterborough United midfielder David Norris (37) this week. He is expected to make his debut tomorrow.

Sports will be without towering centre-back Richard Jones tomorrow because of injury, while midfielder Lewis Webb has pulled out in favour of spending a weekend in Ibiza with his girlfriend.
