There were three hat-trick scorers for United Counties League clubs last night (September 8).

Karl Gibbs scored three goals in Peterborough Sports’ 5-1 win over Raunds in a Division One fixture at PSL, while Glenn Spearink and Jordan Avis claimed their trebles in for Bourne and Market Deeping respectively in Lincs Senior Trophy wins.

Sports fell behind early in their match, but recovered to make it four wins out of four for the division’s big spenders. Jordan MacLeod and Lewis Webb scored their ther goals.

Bourne of Division One knocked out Premier Division side Harrowby United in the county competition. Spearink completed his hat-trick in the last minute to seal a 4-2 victory. Jake Mason also netted for Bourne who had fallen behind in the opening 10 minutes.

Avis scored twice in the final three minutes to confirm a fine 6-2 Deeping win over Sleaford. Scott Mooney, Scott Coupland and David Burton-Jones also scored, while Jezz Goldson-Williams missed a penalty. Burton-Jones also contributed an own goal to the Sleaford cause.

Predictably the highest-scoring game last night took place at Stamford’s Zeeco Stadium where visitors Buxton ran out 4-2 winners. That’s 46 goals in seven Evo Stik Northern Premier Division matches involving the Daniels.

Greg Smith opened the scoring for Stamford and substitute Dan Clements scored a beauty with his first touch to make it 2-2 midway through the second half, but Buxton pulled clear in the last quarter of the match. Stamford are now third from bottom.

Spalding came from behind to beat Belper 2-1 in Division One South. Charley Sanders scored a last-gasp winner for the Tulips after man-of-the-match Josh Moreman drew them level.

There are also three Peterborough League fixtures tomorrow when Holbeach United Reserves will move into second place with a home win over Pinchbeck United.
