Stamford AFC have boosted their strike force ahead of a Northern Premier away game at Rushall Olympic tonight (October 27).

Manager Andrew Wilson has swooped to sign Andrew Phillips from Cambridge City, Phillips scored 20 goals for City in the Southern League Premier Division last season and has played Conference North football for Histon.

Daniels manager Andrew Wilson said: ““He ticks quite a few boxes for us. I have known Andrew for some time. He is a good signing. He works hard, has an eye for goal, links play well, as well as working the channels and isn’t afraid to put his head in where it hurts.”

Stamford could do with some extra firepower. They go into tonight’s game against 15th-placed Rushall next-to-bottom of a 24-team league following a 1-0 defeat at Ashton United on Saturday (October 24).

Spalding are also aiming to bounce back from a weekend defeat. They have a tough game in Division One South though at home to second placed Shaw Lane Aquaforce.

There’s a cracking derby at Wisbech in the United Counties Premier Division tonight as Peterborough Northern Star are the visitors. Star are protecting a six-game unbeaten run after battling out a goal-less draw with high-flying Holbeach last Saturday (October 24).

All conquering Peterborough Sports have been denied the opportunity to go seven points clear at the top of Division One with a win at Wellingborough Whitworths as the match was postponed earlier today.

Yaxley host St Neots in a Hunts Senior Cup tie. Yaxley reached the final of this competition last season without playing a single match. They will be underdogs this evening against higher-level opposition.

Holbeach United and Deeping Rangers are in United Counties Premier Division action tomorrow (October 28).
