There’s an early-season top-of-the-table clash in the United Counties Premier Division tonight (August 25) when leaders Wisbech Town travel to second-placed Yaxley.

It’s a big game in itself, but spice has been added by a first return to In2itive Park for former Cuckoos chief Brett Whaley following his surprise deprature in the summer.

Whlaey pitched up as Wisbech boss 24 hours later and has steered his side to four successive wins and the top of the table. Former Posh striker Ian Benjamin replaced Whaley at Yaxley and they have also started impressively with three wins fromn four matches.

It’s not been such a good start for Peterborough Northern Star. They have just one point from three matches, a record they hope to improve against Boston at Chestnut Avenue tonight.

AFC Stamford must pick themselves up quickly for a league match at Halesowen Town after their harrowing 4-3 defeat at home to Ashton in the Northern Premier Division at the weekend. The Daniels let a 3-1 lead slip and saw three players dismissed.

Unbeaten Spalding are ticking along nicely in Division One North. They are at Sheffield FC tonight.

Holbeach United and Deeping Rangers are in United Counties Premier League action tomorrow (August 26).
