Yaxley jumped into second place in the ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League Premier Division after collecting derby success last night (December 3)

Brett Whaley’s side triumphed 2-1 at Huntingdon as all the goals arrived in the final 20 minutes of an entertaining clash at Jubilee Park.

Cuckoos keeper Aaron Butcher continued a fine personal record by saving the fifth of eight penalties he has faced this season early in the second half when the game was still goalless.

Butcher kept out Declan Rogers’ spot-kick after Town debutant Charley Sanders had been dragged down in the box.

Yaxley made the breakthrough when wideman David Cobb, who had a short spell at Huntingdon earlier in the season, lobbed advancing keeper Dan George.

Gav Cooke saw a header cleared off the line before Dan Cotton doubled Yaxley’s advantage when slamming in from the edge of the box following a wayward clearance.

Huntingdon halved their arrears when Sam Spencer nodded in from close range with the last touch of the game, but it was not enough to avoid a second successive defeat for a team who had been unbeaten in league action until last weekend.
