Holbeach United staged a thrilling second-half comeback to win 4-2 at Yaxley in the United Counties Premier Division last night (October 6).

Two goals from the top-flight’s top scorer Dan Cotton saw the Cuckoos into a comfortable half-time lead at In2itive Park, but goals from Jordan Thomas and Stacy Cartwright dragged The Tigers level within 10 minutes of the second-half.

Thomas soon fired the visitors in front and Andrew Tidswell finally killed the game off with a last-minute penalty.

Holbeach have only lost one of their eight Premier Division games and are now fifth 10 points behind leaders Leicester Nirvana, but with three games in hand. Yaxley stay third, but have played more games than all their rivals towards the top.

There was a sensational result for Huntingdon who recorded their first win for nine months and 35 matches thanks to a single Jordan Brockett goal at fading Wisbech. Brockett has turned down offers from stronger clubs to stay with Huntingdon who had lost all 11 of their previous league games this season.

Wisbech are now six games without a win.

Peterborough Northern Star climbed into the top of the table with a 1-0 win at Eynesbury secured by a second-half header from Tom Waumsley.

Bourne moved into the top six of Division One after crushing Oakham 5-0. Henry Dunn scored twice with Sam Wilson, Dan Smith and Zak Munton also on target.

Title-favourites Peterborough Sports will move to the top of Division One with a win at Blackstones tonight (October 7). Sports have won all seven of their league games so far this season, but Stones are also in terrific form highlighted by a weekend (October 3) FA Vase victory over Northern Star.

A win for Blackstones would move them up to fourth.

Deeping Rangers bowed out of a third cup competition in 10 days last night. They followed defeats in the FA Cup and FA Vase with a 3-2 loss at Desborough in the United Counties League Cup. Luke Hunnings and Scott Coupland scored the Deeping goals.
