Last night’s big local derby in the Premier Division of the ChromaSport United Counties League ended goalless.
Neither table-topping Peterborough Sports or Peterborough Northern Star could find the back of the net in a disappointing match at Chestnut Avenue.
The game was low on quality and goalmouth action until the latter stages.
Sports improved following the introduction of Mark Jones on his return from injury and he went close with a couple of headed efforts. Josh Moreman also hit the bar with a volley.
Matt Cox was outstanding in the home defence and Star keeper Dan George pulled off a couple of top saves.
At the other end of the pitch the pace of Jezz Goldson-Williams was a threat to Sports and he managed to create a couple of decent half-chances.
The point extends Sports lead at the top to 12 points.
