The FA Cup roadshow rolls into the city on Friday (August 14) evening with the prestigious trophy on show at the Peterborough Sports ground on Lincoln Road between 5pm and 8pm.
The ChromaSport United Counties League Division One side are in FA Cup action on Saturday for the first time in 93 years, having last played in the competition in 1922 as Brotherhoods Engineering Works losing 2-1 in a replay to Desborough Town.
To mark their historic return to FA Cup duty, the Football Association will have the cup on display at the Lincoln Road club with everyone welcome to come along and have their picture taken with the famous trophy.
Peterborough Sports began their UCL Division One campaign last weekend with an emphatic 9-0 win over Irchester but now travel on Saturday to Eynesbury Rovers from the UCL Premier Division who enjoyed a 4-0 win over Market Harborough Town in their opening game.
Manager Jimmy Dean has assembled a very talented squad after taking the job in the summer and new striker Avelino Vieira hit a debut hat-trick on Saturday while other top signings Lewis Webb from Spalding, Jordan MacLeod from Peterborough Northern Star and Dave Cobb from Yaxley have made Sports one of the favourites to win UCL Division One this season.
Chairman Tommy Cooper said: “After finishing fifth in the league last season we were on tenterhooks to see if we even qualified for the competition. But once we got in the story about our long break from the competition emerged and has just added to the excitement everyone at the club feels.
“We have had interest from BBC Look East, Radio Cambridgeshire and Talksport plus the BBC website in the build-up to the game which is very good prestige for the club.”
