Dean wants Peterborough Sports to '˜dare to dream' in their big FA Cup tie

Sports host unbeaten National North Division leaders Chorley at the Bee Arena (12.30pm kick off) in a third qualifying round FA Cup tie that will be screened live by the BBC online and ‘behind the red button’ on TV screens.

The city side have already made club record progress and beat another National North Division side Boston United away from home in the previous round.

Sports are now two wins away from the first round proper and a possible meeting with Posh.

Dean is hoping many Posh fans will watch his side in actio before moving onto the League One game with Barnsley at the ABAX Stadium (3pm kick off). Car parking is available at the Post Office Club opposite the Bee Arena.

“Chorley represents another step up in quality for us,” Dean said. “They are seven points clear at the top of their division and haven’t lost a game. It will be tough, but then so was Boston away from home and we made them look like a step five team.

“Of course we are underdogs, but this is the FA Cup and anything can happen and often does.

“We must dare to dream. If things go our way we can win this game. I need all my players fit and firing for it to happen and I’m confident they will be.

“It’s a huge game for us. To be seen live on BBC television is staggering for a club of our size. I hope to see many Posh fans at the game as they can get to their own match straight afterwards!”

Sports are sweating on the fitness of key midfielder Dan Lawlor, a key player in the way the city side like to play.

Among the Chorley squad are several players with Football League experience including defender Stephen Jordan who has played for Manchester City.

Sports lost for the first time in a competitive fixture this season when an understrength team were beaten 4-1 by higher level King’s Lynn Town 4-1 in the Evo Stik League Southern League Cup.
