NON-LEAGUE FOOTBALL: Semi-final spots secured by Peterborough Sports and Fenmen
Peterborough Sports joined Netherton United in the semi-finals after battling their way to a 1-0 win at United Counties Division One rivals ON Chenecks. Karl Gibbs scored the only goal of the game against the cup holders (Chenecks where chasing a third straight success in the competition) five minutes into the second-half to move the tournament favourites onto a last-four date with Northampton Premier Division side Weldon United.
Netherton of the Peterborough Premier Division face UCL Division One side Raunds in the other semi-final at the Grange. They booked their place in the last four with a win over Wellingborough Whitworth the week before.

Hide AdWisbech Town also moved into a cup semi-final as they beat Olney 4-2 in a United Counties League Cup quarter-final. The lower division side gave the Fenemen a shock though as they battled back to 2-2 from 2-0 down before Billy Smith and Adam Millson both scored their second goals of the game in the latter stages.
It wasn’t all good news for the Fenmen though as Steven Reid suffered a double leg fracture during the game.
Deeping Rangers and Holbeach United both lost ground in the United Counties Premier Division title race yesterday. Fourth-placed Deeping went down 4-2 at in-form Eynesbury. The home side are now unbeaten in 10 games and raced into a 3-0 half-time lead in this match. David Burton-Jones and Scott Mooney scored late consolation goals for Deeping.
Fifth-placed Holbeach were on the wrong end of the shock result of the day, their second in a row at Carter’s Park. They went down 2-1 at home to 18th-placed Rothwell Corinthians after falling behind in just 22 seconds. Tom Gosling dragged ‘The Tigers’ back to 2-1, but they couldn’t find an equaliser despite Rothwell losing a man to a late red card.

Peterborough Northern Star are just behind Yaxley in ninth place after being held 1-1 by Wellingborough Town at Chestnut Avenue. Craig Smith opened the scoring for Star, but Wellingborough equalised before the break.
