Netherton United’s amazing success in the Women’s FA Cup and a 10-goal romp for Peterborough Northern Star

Netherton United secured a place in the Women’s FA Cup second qulaifying round with a sensational 5-4 win over Leigh Ramblers at the Grange yesterday (October 4).

The city side looked dead and buried when falling 3-0 down in the opening 22 minutes.

They battled back to 3-3 by the break before conceding again at the start of the second-half.

But goals from Yas Green and Sasha Haw turned the tie on its head again. It was Green’s second goal of the game. Emily Johnson also scored twice.

Netherton will travel to Long Eaton in the next round on October 18.

Peterborough Northern Star also powered into the second qualifying round as they smashed Southend United 10-0 at the Branch Bros Stadium.

Star were ‘Jess’ perfect as Jess Driscoll (5), Jess Price (3) and Jess Evans did the bulk of the scoring.

Evie Driscoll-King also netted for Star who were 8-0 up at half-time.

Star travel to Ipswich in the second qualifying round.
