Maddison had a hand in all three goals as Posh fought back late to win 3-2 at Fleetwood yesterday (December 17). Posh are now just three points off the play-off places as they approach the halfway point in the season.

Maddison delivered two cracking passes to enable Michael Doughty and Jack Marriott to get on the scoresheet. Maddison then saw his free kick spilled by the home goalkeeper to give Danny Lloyd the chance to win the game for Posh in the final minute.

“I just want to do my best to help the team wins games,” Maddison stated.

“The lads know I can get a cross into the box and then it’s just a case of someone getting on the end of it.

“It happened yesterday because Michael Doughty made a great run and then I managed to pick out Jack Marriott for the second goal. I know what Jack’s about. He likes to get behind a defence and it’s my job to find him.

“It’s a great result for us and we were rewarded for working hard until the final whistle. We were a bit off the pace in the first half, but we showed what we are about in the second half.

“We made it hard work for ourselves, but we got there in the end. Now we need to find some consistency.

“The gaffer showed us some stats from the last 12 games recently and it didn’t make for great viewing. We are better than those figures showed.”

Maddison received plenty of stick from the home crowd after winning several free kicks during the game, including the one which led to the winning goal.

“What opposition fans say doesn’t bother me,” Maddison added. “They pay their money so they can say what they want.”
