Centre-back Ricardo Santos and winger Jon Taylor, the subject of transfer interest from other clubs, will not be involved after recovering from injuries. They will play instead at Ware FC, a Southern League side under the management of Posh legend Ken Charlery. Strikers Aaron Williams, Joe Gormley and Matty Stevens will also travel to Ware.
McCann said: “I have told the players this will be their toughest pre-season game of the summer. Barnsley have recruited well during the close season.
“I will be treating the match as a league game. I will name seven substitutes and make changes as and when I see fit.
“This is a good game for us. Everyone is still fighting for a starting place against Rochdale.
