A city school have won through to the semi-finals of a huge national cup competition.
Nene Park Academy beat the William Edwards Academy from Thurrock 4-2 yesterday (February 2) at Bushfield to reach the last four in the English Schools Under 13 FA Cup - a competition that attracted 678 teams.
The Peterborough lads opened the scoring after 20 minutes through Ricky-Jade Jones but the visitors levelled just after half-time.
Five minutes later though Nene Park were back in front courtesy of a Flynn Clarke goal and then they strtehced their advantage to 4-1 with 10 minutes to go through Jones and Clarke again.
William Edwards Academy bagged an injury-time consolation to complete the scoring.
The semi-final draw will be made next week.
Last year Nene Park got to the last 32 stage.

Round 5 – beat Robert Bloomfield Academy, Bedford, 4-3 (Ricky-Jade Jones 2, Jayden Richardson 2).
Round 4 – beat Carres Grammar School, Lincs, 3-1 (Ricky-Jade Jones 2, Jamie Lane).
Round 3 – beat Hinchingbrooke, Huntingdon, 1-0 (Connor Peters).
Round 2 – beat St Ivo, St Ives, 4-0 (Connor Peters, Jamie Lane, Ricky-Jade Jones 2).
