ROUND-UP: Heron and Jackson are Whittlesey heroes in tense cup win, Netherton love Valentine, leaders march on
Heron scored twice, including a late equaliser to force the second round tie into penalties. Goalkeeper Jackson then saved two Lions’ spot-kicks as Whittlesey won the shootout 3-1.
Lions had fought back from 2-0 down to lead 3-2 with goals from Shaun Sanderson, Joseph Lippett and Rob Forster. Evergreen Kevin Gilbert also scored for Whittlesey.

Hide AdThose Peterborough Premier Division title contenders in action on Saturday all picked up three points. Leaders Moulton Harrox saw off a strong challenge from ICA Sports to record a 3-1 win, while Netherton United despatched Warboys Town 6-0 at the Grange. Reigning champions Peterborough Sports Reserves fielded a very young side and beat AFC Stanground 2-0 with goals from Dylan Kilford and Ayman Trabelsi.
Ashley Coddington, Louis Steadman and Joe Townsend scored for Harrox who are five points clear at the top. Sam Cross did drag ICA level in the first half.
Newcomer Michael Valentine and Lewis Brisbourne scored twice for Netherton.
Next-to-bottom Deeping Rangers won 3-2 at Ketton with goals from Matthew Atkins, Max Webb and Will Mann. It was just Deeping’s third win of the season.
