Peterborough Sports first team boss Jimmy Dean will not be afraid of blooding youngsters from the club’s high flying development side in the Evo Stik League.
The Sports’ kids are third in the Peterborough Premier Division after a terrific 2-1 win over a fancied Whittlesey Athletic side last Saturday, coming from behind to win with goals from team veteran James McDonough and Henry Nkobi.
It gets even tougher for Sports tomorrow (September 15) as they travel to leaders Moulton Harrox who extended their perfect winning start to the season to eight matches with a 1-0 success at Thorney last weekend.
“It’s a big step from the Peterborough League to the Evo Stik,” Dean stated. “But we have some talented boys and I wouldn’t be worried about including a couple in a matchday squad for the first team.
“They’ve had a great start to their season and it will be interesting to see how they get on at Moulton Harrox.”
The controversial abandonment of a Peterborough Premier Division game between Netherton United and Sutton Bridge United last month has been sent to the Northants FA for investigation.
The match was abandoned with Netherton leading 7-0 at the Grange with just three minutes to go after an altercation between referee Michael Dunkley and the city side’s manager Jon Harrison.
The League have agreed a request from Warboys to drop from the Premier Division to Division Two with immediate effect. The move was passed 43 votes to seven (one abstention).
Warboys Premier Division record - they had played twice - will be expunged.
Netherton have lost a 10-0 win from their playing record. They have dropped from second to fourth as a result ahead of tomorrow’s tricky game at Oakham.
