Peterborough League: Perfect pair are setting a scorching pace

Peterborough Sports Reserves and Moulton Harrox have extended their perfect records in the Peterborough Premier Division to four matches.

The city side cruised to a 3-0 win over the fancied Pinchbeck United side, while Harrox were easing to a 4-1 win at Ketton.

Chris Brown (2) and Jamie Graham scored for Sports with Benjamin Allen (2), Bobby Patterson and Joe Townsend on target for Harrox.

The pair are setting a cracking pace at the top. They are only a point clear of third-placed Netherton United, but have two games in hand.

Netherton moved upto third with a 7-0 duffing of AFC Stanground, a team who have struggled since promotion from Division One at the end of last season.

Stephen Mastin sored four of the Netherton goals. Stanground have lost all four games and already have a negative goal difference of -23. They are kept off the bottom by city rivals Riverside whose 9-3 thrashing at Deeping Rangers Reserves was a fifth straight defeat.

It was 3-3 at half-time with John Regan scoring all three for Riverside, but the home side romped away after the break.

David Burton-Jones and Daniel Ireland were hat-trick heroes for Deeping with Matt Carter (2) and Daniel Powell completing the scoring.

Zak Fisher was another hat-trick shooter. His arrived for Stilton United in a 6-1 win over Langtoft United.

ICA Sports and Thorney fought out a tough 2-2 draw. Dan Fountain and Tiago Camilo were on target for ICA with Tom Retzlaff and Liam Merryweather replying for Thorney.

Pre-season title favourites Whittlesey Athletic are up and running at the thirrd attemnpt. Matt Heron (2), Jacob Smith (2), Ricky Hailstone and Jack Bates were their scorers in a 6-0 rout of Crowland.
