After 54 years as a member of the Peterborough Sunday Morning League, West Town FC have finally called it a day.
The city club fielded two teams in the competition this season, but the extra demands that come with running an amateur club these days, as well as a player-shortage and a lack of volunteers to help manage the teams have prompted a withdrawal.
West Town didn’t exactly bow out in a blaze of glory. They were beaten 7-1 in a Hereward Elite cup tie by Premier Decorators.
The first semi-final of the Hereward Cup takes place this Sunday when Ploughman tackle Thurlby at Bushfield (10.30am).
