Glinton go clear after Bourne lose

Glinton & Northborough Amber have gone three points clear at the top of Under 18 Division One.

They made it four wins out of four on Sunday with a comfortable 4-1 success at Sawtry and while they were doing that closest rivals Bourne were coming unstuck 2-1 at Stamford.

Matthew Richardson, Samuel Sheffield, Samuel Shields and Thomas Smith were the Glinton scorers while Oliver O’Brien hit both Stamford goals.

Peterborough Northern Star beat Deeping 4-1 thanks to goals by Peter Southee (2), George Dowds and Alexander Slater to make it two wins from two matches.

Under 18 Division Two leaders March Saracens were held to a 2-2 draw at Glinton and Northborough Black and now have just a one-point advantage over Spalding, who were impressive 10-0 winners against Bourne Town Blue.

Stephen Coombe-Boxall and Maxwell Neill scored for Glinton, Brandon Casson-Rennie bagged a brace for Saracens.

Declan Earth (4), Jonathan Lockie (3), Levi Butland (2) and Samuel Young were on target for Spalding.

Malborne Under 15s were the biggest winners in the Peterborough Youth League on Sunday.

Matthew Driscoll’s side hammered Division Two opponents Werrington 14-2 with Matty Robson firing eight of the goals. Also on target were Jordan Giddings (3), Bobby Pridie and Seeraj Gohil (2).

The win keeps Malborne unbeaten in both league and cup competitions this season.
