Gary Gibbs and Dan Fountain both scored hat-tricks as Peterborough Sports Reserves maintained their Peterborough Premier Division title challenge with a 6-0 win over Crowland on Saturday (November 21).
Sports are two points behind leaders Moulton Harrox haveing played a game more. They’ve won 11 of their 13 top-flight matches, but Harrox have won all 12 of theirs after despatching Langtoft United 3-0 at the weekend.
Ian Bradbury bagged a brace for Harrox after Ryan Wheeler had opened the scoring. Harrox are two points clear at the top, but the big guns are lining up to shoot them down.
Pre-season title favourites Whittlesey Athletic made it 10 wins in a trow with a 3-1 success at Deeping Rangers Reserves to move into third place. Liam Harrold, Jake Pell and recent signing Lewis Stone scored their goals.
Pinchbeck United moved up to sixth place as after two goals from Dan Woods saw off Sawtry, while Ketton and ICA Sports fought out a goal-less draw.
Lowly Uppingham won for the second week in a row. The Rutlanders triumphed 4-0 at bottom club Riverside with Jacob Norton scoring twice.
The scheduled matches at Leverington and Thorney were postponed because of waterlogging, while the top six clash between Netherton Reserves and Holbeach United Reserves was called off after the ‘Tiger’s minibus broke down en route.
