Suspended ICA Sports striker Kyle Orange is the controversial selection in the Peterborough League Rep team squad.
Orange is coming towards the end of his latest long suspension, but he’s found his way into manager Darren Fogg’s squad, initially for a friendly with a Netherton Select XI at The Grange on February 25.
The rep team will also play a friendly against Peterborough Northern Star on March 31 before starting their Midlands Inter-League campaign with an away game at the Northampton Town League.
“I’ve played with and against Kyle and on his day he’s unplayable,” Fogg said.
“I’ve taken a bit of a punt on him, but he’s desperate to play and that’s encouraging. I’m happy with the squad and it’s about time we did well in this competition. I don’t think we’ve ever won an away game.”
Premier Division leaders Coates have five players in the squad, one more than Netherton. Oakham and Moulton Harrox have three players involved, but Stilton, the fourth-placed team in the Premier Division have been over-looked completely.
Squad: Lewis Moat (Coates), James Doughty (Pinchbeck), Jack Bates (Coates), Ben Daly (Netherton), Chris Hansford (Netherton), Jake Pell (Coates), Matt Holland (Oakham), Phil Groves (Moulton Harrox), Billy King (Moulton Harrox), Stephen Mastin (Netherton), Tom Randall (Netherton), Oliver Maltby (Pinchbeck), Edward McDonald (Oakham), Michael Simpson (Sawtry), Joe Butterworth (Coates), Matt Heron (Coates), Kyle Orange (ICA Sports) Ian Bradbury (Moulton Harrox)and Lewis Leckie (Oakham).
