Coates Athletic moved three points clear at the top of the Chromasport & Trophies Peterborough Premier Division after completing an eighth competitive victory on Saturday (February 7).

Coates won 4-0 at bottom club Crowland thanks to goals from Daniel French, Kevin Gilbert, Matt Heron and Dan Drane.

Third-placed Netherton lost more ground after drawing 1-1 at Pinchbeck United. Top scorer Ben Cullen was back at the city club for the weekend (he’s now serving in the armed forces) and scored, but Ollie Maltby replied for the home side. Maltby was then sent off in the last minute for dissent.

Stilton are now level on points with Netherton after seiing off Riverside 5-1. Craig Smith (2), Richard Challinor, Benjamin Panting and Philip Wells scored for Mark Baines’ side.

Sawtry were also 5-1 winners over Uppingham, while Langtoft came from behind to beat neighbours Deeping Rangers 3-1 with goals from Dan Evans, Calum Parker and Jobi Froud.

In-form Moulton Harrox won 4-1 at out-of-form Thorney.

Second-placed Oakham won 4-0 against Holbeach Reserves in the second round of the PFA Senior Cup. Oakham have now set up a quarter-final humdinger against Coates. The winners of that tie will be expected to reach the final
