Coates Athletic will spend Christmas at to the top of the tree in the Peterborough Premier Division.

Goals from Matt Heron and Luke Hipwell delivered a 2-1 win at Holbeach Reserves on Saturday (December 20) to leave Coates three points clear at the top.

Second-placed Oakham, who have two games in hand on the leaders, were held to a goalless draw by fourth-placed Stilton, while third-placed Netherton United were cruising to a 3-0 win at Thorney.

The city side are nine points behind Coates, but have four games in hand. Jake Sansby, Stephen Mastin and Tom Randall scored the Netherton goals at Thorney.

ICA Sports improvement under new boss Hamish Curtis continued with an 8-2 demolition of city rivals Riverside. Liam Gallagher scored twice for ICA as seven players found their way onto the scoresheet.

Crowland moved off the bottom of the table after beating Peterborough Sports Reserves 3-2. James Ellwood (2) and Virginijus Simkus scored for Crowland who have now moved above Leverington. Leverington were beaten 2-1 at home by Deeping Rangers Reserves.

Joe Townsend scored twice as Moulton Harrox beat Uppingham 4-2.

There is only one Premier Division fixture next weekend (December 27) when Pinchbeck host Deeping Reserves.
