It was a great day for the Glinton and Northborough Under 14 teams on Sunday.
The Glinton and Northborough Amber team reached the League Cup final while Glinton and Northborough Black advanced to the semi-finals of the Hereward Cup.
The ‘Ambers’ reached the League Cup decider by outscoring Gunthorpe Navy 3-1 in a penalty shoot-out after the game finished all square at 2-2 after extra-time.
Owen Thomas and Joe Burborough scored the Glinton goals with Ryan Bishop and Oluwatomi Ogunyoye on target for Gunthorpe.
Glinton’s final opponents will be Netherton, who beat Northern Star 4-2 in the other semi-final thanks to goals by Bradley Gilbert (3) and Sulaiman Saleem.
In the Hereward Cup quarter-finals, Glinton and Northborough Black from Division Two were 8-3 winners over Division Three table-toppers Stamford.
Andrew Irvine led the way on their scoresheet with a hat-trick and Sandro Ferreira netted twice.
In the other quarter-final ties, Bourne Claret beat Thorney 5-0, Hungate Green knocked out Phoenix 7-3 and Whittlesey beat Thurlby 6-1.
Kristian Frank scored four of Whitttlesey’s goals, Freddie Collison hit a hat-trick for Hungate and Iain Bisalla and Timothy Worgan each bagged a brace for Bourne.
In Under 13 Division One there was a shock for the league leaders Alconbury.
They were at Hampton Blue and suffered a 3-1 loss - their first defeat of the season. Rio Smith (2) and Lemar Moore were the players on target for Hampton, who have now moved into second place - just two points behind Alconbury.
There were goals galore in Under 13 Division Three.
Leading the way with a 10-2 thumping of Stanground were Werrington Red. Tyler Savage was chief goal-getter with five and the rest came from Edison Hoda (2), Jaden Lawrence, Charlie Orbell and Conan Renshaw.
Table-topping Park Farm Red were next highest as they hit nine without reply against Glinton and Northborough Amber. Callum McAuley and Riley Deadman both fired trebles with Liam Nightingale (2) and Joshua Hutton completing the rout.
The other big winners were Thurlby. They crushed Crowland 8-2 with Matthew Wright helping himsself to four of the goals. The others came from William Russell, Tom Middleton, Harry Cole and Harrison Gray.
Under 12 Division One leaders Deeping Blue moved six points clear of the chasing group after a 6-0 win against Riverside. Shane Bointon hit three of the goals to take his tally for the season to 19.
Sidney O’Connell made it 20 goals for the season when scoring five for Glinton and Northborough Amber in an 11-1 win over Under 12 Division two rivals Oundle.
