LADIES FOOTBALL: Big wins for Posh and Northern Star

It was a good day for Peterborough's top two ladies teams yesterday (October 14).

Peterborough Northern Star went second in the Eastern Region League Premier Division thanks to a 4-0 win at home to Harlow Town.

Katie Steward bagged two of the goals with Cassie Steward and Emma Pollard also on target.

Star are now second in the table, two points behind Brentwood Town with a game in hand.

Northern Star: Georgia Coulson, Jess Evans, Gemma Fitzjohn, Vicky Gallagher, Sarah Hudson, Paige Jones, Bronwyn Mulheron, Frances Peeling, Emma Pollard, Cassie Steward, Katie Steward. Subs: Leah Barnes, Larrissa Frederick.

In the East Midlands League Premier Division, Posh were 7-1 winners against Woodlands in the ‘clash of the champions’. Posh won the Division One South title last season and Woodlands were the Division One North champions.

A defensive error actually saw Woodlands take the lead after four minutes but Posh hit back to record a comfortable win with goals by Donna McGuigan (3), Keir Perkins (2), Laura Dodwell and player-of-the-match Hannah Pendred.

Posh are third in the table, four points behind Leicester City Development and one point behind Oughtibridge War Memorial.
