All the significant action at the Branch Bro Stadium came in the final few minutes of the final, with the game looking like it was heading to penalties.

Tane Scott gave Rutland Dead Rabbits the lead with a header from a James Slack cross in the 86th minute to open the scoring and start the celebrations but there was still time for more drama and another hero to emerge.

In fact Scott thought he had scored a second two minutes into injury time after a Slack counter attack and pass created an opening for the striker but the referee disallowed the goal for offside.

In the seventh minute of injury time calamity struck for the Rutland side when a push on a Lions striker was deemed worthy of a penalty.

Up stepped Scott McKenzie for the Stamford side but Rutland Dead Rabbits’ man of the match goalkeeper Daniel Foster guessed the right way and saved the spot kick to win the cup.
